Krupa – Home for the Elderly in Nashik operates as a care facility for destitute elderly women, established over 25 years ago by founder Clara. What began as help for a single woman has grown into a family-like home serving multiple residents together. Established in 1996, Krupa operates from a rented bungalow currently home to up to 11 elderly women, with capacity for two more.
What We Do
The team — led by founder Clara and project coordinator James Moses, together with a cook and three support workers — provides nutritious meals, healthcare and recreational programming for every resident.
Community events such as celebrations, picnics and outings build a family-like environment that restores dignity and connection for women who have nowhere else to turn.
Taibai Yesu Garde, a widow with no family support who had been living in a tin shed, left community members “shocked and amazed” at her transformation after just 15 days at Krupa. Residents like Janabi (who regained mobility) and Chandrabai (who found family support again) reflect the same pattern — small, consistent care restoring both health and hope.
